Vol.6 "Tablet ~Taberet~" is a restaurant that satisfies the stomachs and hearts of local people with daily side dishes.

This time, we spoke with the owner of "tablet ~Taberetto~," a deli restaurant that opened in January, just a seven-minute walk from Tokai-daigaku-mae Station on the Odakyu Line in Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

-Please tell us the background behind opening your store in Hadano.

I was born in Tochio, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, but moved to Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture about a year ago. Hadano is a basin, its water is so clean it was selected as one of Japan's 100 famous water sources, and it has many similarities to the climate of my hometown, Tochio. I was attracted to this place, rich in nature, which gives me a sense of home despite being in the Kanto region, so I opened "tablet ~Taberet~" here in January.

-What kind of restaurant is "tablet ~Taberetto~"?

The store name "tablet Taberetto is a combination of the words "table," "let's," and "taberu," and carries the meaning of "let's enjoy eating." We hope to create a place where local customers can casually drop in and enjoy lunch or dinner on their daily routine. We offer side dishes and set meals made with rice and vegetables grown in Hadano, as well as Tochio-age, a specialty of Tochio, Niigata, and have now been certified as a "Hadano Agricultural Products Supporter Store" for local production and consumption.

-Please tell us your most popular menu items.

The popular lunch menu is the "Sugu Teishoku" (set meal). It includes two dishes from today's side dishes and one salad or pickled dish. Served with a set of pork soup with plenty of ingredients, choose from three types to suit your taste. As the name suggests, the food can be served immediately, so even busy people can enjoy it without having to wait. For dinner, we recommend the "Side Dish Set," which allows you to enjoy the deliciousness of seasonal Hadano vegetables. The side dishes change daily, so you can enjoy a different menu every day.

-What kind of customers do you get?

After the store opened, they stopped by a community center called "Sun Life" near the store. It was popular with parents and children. However, shortly after opening, the spread of COVID-19 Due to the extensive prevention measures, we were closed. However, our local customers were concerned and told us they would come again, and we were able to get through the closure period somehow. It is used by many local people both day and night.

-You can enjoy sake from Kanai Sake Brewery in the store, but are there any snacks you'd recommend?

Our store is particular about products from the Hadano area. We wanted to stock not only ingredients such as vegetables and rice, but also local sake from Hadano, Kanagawa, so we stock Kanai Sake Brewery's sake " Shirasasa Tsuzumi Taru Sake " and " Sasa no Tsuyu ". I myself have had the opportunity to try Kanai Sake Brewery's sake, I thought that mildly seasoned foods and fried foods would go well with it. We also have daily side dishes and snacks that go well with Kanai Sake Brewery's sake, so I hope you will enjoy some sake when you visit.

-What spots in Hadano would you recommend?

I think the charm of Hadano is that it's close to the city center and offers a wealth of natural scenery and fresh air. Togawa Park, in particular, is recommended as a beautiful place to enjoy nature throughout the seasons. The park offers bouldering and free distribution of Hadano wood, so you can enjoy it in a variety of ways beyond just strolling. The coasters we use in our shop were made from wood donated to Togawa Park, sawed and sanded. I truly believe that it's precisely because this region is rich in nature that such enjoyment is possible. Hadano is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot, and many people travel to Hadano to enjoy cherry blossom viewing during the peak bloom season. The rows of cherry trees along the Mizunashi River and Sakuramichi are recommended photo spots.

Our restaurant also has terrace seating so that you can enjoy your meal while taking in the natural beauty of Hadano. The Odakyu Line tracks run directly below the restaurant, so you can enjoy watching the Odakyu Line trains from the terrace seats.

We hope to continue to promote Hadano together with the local community by allowing many people to enjoy ingredients produced in Hadano.

Introducing "tablet ~Taberetto~"

Opened in January 2022, this restaurant offers daily specials made with seasonal ingredients from Hadano and Tochio-age fried tofu from Niigata. All menu items, except for soup, are available for takeout. They're perfect as a side dish for dinner.
