In the first year of the Meiji era, the company was founded by a woman.
Kanai Sake Brewery is the only sake brewery in Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture, a town blessed with the bounty of the Tanzawa Mountains.
Its origins lie in the challenge taken on by the first brewer, Riki Sano, who took on the challenge without any skills or knowledge.
Our technology, the "harmonious blend of tradition and innovation" we have been striving for, and the nature of Tanzawa that we love... These are all connected and woven together to this day, weaving together our history "up to now" and our future "to come" - Kanai Sake Brewery's 150 years of progress, along with various innovations, is also a history of challenges.
Our current goal is to become a "brewery that brews sake for the future."
This is to connect the story of sake.
And to record what has happened up until now in history.
Or to walk together into the future.
We pursue what our customers want us to be, question what truly makes good sake, and give back to this town at the foot of Mt. Tanzawa. We at Kanai Sake Brewery want to be a presence that brews all the futures that surround us.
